Back to School with Your Natural High
Overcome Peer Pressure with Your Passion
Written by: Byron Yu and Allura Garis
Going back to school, you are inevitably going to have new experiences and make new friends. There are going to be times when you will feel like you are playing a role, whether it be ‘tough’, ‘smart’, ‘funny’ or ‘quiet’. There are going to be times when you will feel peer-pressure, and although there is nothing wrong with your friends cheering you on to do great things; there is something wrong if you don’t feel the same way. You are you, and if people are telling you to do something you feel is wrong, then there’s something wrong with them.
You are not alone in feeling peer pressure, there are other people just like you who are going through the same thing and would rather engage in their natural high than an artificial high. These people could be from another city, another state or even another country. But regardless of how far away you are from them, your passion, your natural high, will allow you to overcome peer pressure.
Natural High aims to show the difference between happiness that lasts, a natural high and happiness that is temporary, an artificial high. Your passion is forever. It is something that no one can take away, it is the thing that keeps you centered and is an “extension” of who you are because no one thing can “define” who you are.
Music, friendship or sports, no matter what it is, it will not run out, it will be there for you no matter what and does not expect anything from you in return. I would like to invite you to define your natural high and to take the PLEDGE to live naturally high. By PLEDGING you are telling your story and you are inviting your peers to take the PLEDGE. PLEDGE now.
